The AAF E30 5-speed Transmission has many issues and upgrading to a later 5 speed is often a great option.

While the OEM thin steel crossmember mounts with only two bolts, our upgraded crossmember spreads the load across four points. This design helps mitigate chassis flex occurring during hard cornering, which is transferred through the engine and transmission from the front crossmember. Our crossmember is specifically engineered to withstand this stress under the extreme conditions of road racing.
